One of the shots from an all-too-brief (work) trip to New York. Taken shortly after a rainstorm, just outside my hotel. This is an HDR composite of 7 shots.
On the street that Helmut Newton called home. The day prior, I had seen the first French retrospective of Newton’s work since his 2004 death. Two hundred original prints, on display at the The Grand Palais, curated by the legendary photographer’s wife. Inspired by his 1975 photo, Le Smoking, I found the street, walked and shot.

Years ago, before a trip to New York City, I read about Donald Judd’s studio and efforts to preserve its contents and open it to visitors. Yesterday’s New York Times has a beautifully written story about Judd, his work and those restoration efforts, now complete.

The Tokina 12-24 has quickly become the lens most likely to be found on my camera, especially in the city.
And HDR is one of my favourite parts of shooting digital. It’s definitely a double-edged sword, but I try to stick to the more realistic side of postprocessing. Although that may be because I’m not especially great at Photoshop 🙂
