The comings and goings of airport life. Sometimes about the people, sometimes about the planes, sometimes about the glass and steel that bring them together. I’ve been in this terminal and lounge a number of times over the past 18 months, but rarely with enough time to wander and observe. From the Air France lounge in terminal 2F, walkways to and from a nearby gate.
In the main plaza of Dalanzadgad’s stadium, kids run and play and celebrate Naadam, the annual summertime festival of three traditional games: Mongolian wrestling, horse racing and archery.
An escalator in the massive Châtelet station in the Paris Metro. In the center of the city, the station was just over 100 years old when I took this shot back in 2001. No need for digital film grain and dust filters on this shot — actual film grain and dust comes from the Ilford HP5 I used at the time, and the Nikon scanner to make the digital image. I miss the darkroom days.
A distinct splash of colour amidst the muted tones of Davisville station.

One of the several work crews detailing a lakeside building in the massive Summer Palace in Beijing.
On location in New York City’s Chinatown, shooting with the TB Unmasked team. Great sights and sounds and a fantastic lunch just steps from where this was taken.

Cold water after a long and difficult hike to the top of Cerro Chato, a dormant volcano near La Fortuna, Costa Rica. The proportions made me think of Mark Rothko.
A Kipling-bound train arrives, while plenty of people wonder why someone is setting up a tripod to shoot into the mouth of the tunnel at the end of the platform.
From a cold night in Toronto, walking around the system and ending up in my old neighbourhood at Finch station. This shot is also my first post to Instagram. You can find me at GetInTheDistance.
A lone passenger departed a late night train at Finch station – the end of the line.
Saturday afternoon on a quiet street in the Centrum.
At the Rosedale subway station, an empty, salt-covered platform just before midnight in March.
A gorgeous vintage Citroen on the streets of the Jordaan area of Amsterdam.
At an open-air market filled with amazing foods in incredible colours, the result of the farming I’ve been seeing during my two week visit.
I smelled it from a hundred feet away. A tiny bakery on the main street of Byimana, a village in the Southern Province of Rwanda.
Some of the bystanders during a visit to a women’s farming cooperative in western Rwanda.
At the penultimate show of their tour, Stars going for it in Baltimore.
