The Bird - Europe, France, Lyon, Saint Exupery, Santiago Calatrava, Satolas, St. Exupery, TGV, street, travel

With today’s news of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners (RSHP), home of iconic architect Richard Rogers, being awarded the design for a new terminal for the Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport, I thought it fitting to showcase the first amazing piece of work at the airport, Santiago Calatrava’s Satolas TGV station. A photo from the inside is what kicked off the relaunch of this blog back in April. But a photo from inside (and more of those will be coming to this site) doesn’t do justice to this building. Much has been written about this building, and there is a fascinating short documentary about it (part of the amazing Architectures series), but to experience it in person was a true treat. I look forward to returning to the airport to see RSHP’s vision come to life.
